Nzala yakwaMbotho, sicela uncedo bethuna, sizama ukudibanisa umlando wethu. Below is a short history of our people that still needs to be investigated and verified. I decided to post it because I wanted to get the ball rolling towards putting something together. It has been a couple of years now, we've been trying to get information so I implore you to please read through, speak to parents, grandparents and help us f urther research and verify our history so that we can produce a book that everyone can have access to. Please note that the information contained in this document still needs work but it is a starting point. It is up to each one of us to come to the table with something, whether it's a correction, translation or verification. Mbotho Family Gathering - Zimbane A clan is a group of people united by actual or perceived kinship and descent. Even if lineage details are unknown, clan members may be organized around a founding member or apical ancestor. Clans can be most easily described as tribes or sub-groups of tribes. The word clan is derived from 'clann' meaning 'family' in the Irish and Scottish Gaelic languages. Clans preceded more centralized forms of community organization and government; they are located in every country. Members may identify with a coat of arms or other symbol to show they are an independent clan. In different cultures and situations, a clan may mean the same thing as other kin-based groups, such as tribes and bands. Mbotho Family Gathering, 14 July 2012, Ngqeleni

The next family gathering will be held on the 14th July 2012 at Ngqeleni in the Eastern Cape. This is where the Mbotho Family Trust document will be discussed and finalised. All members of the Mbotho Clan are encouraged to attend this gathering to make sure that it is a success. For more information you can have a look at the minutes of the two previous gatherings in Zimbane, Umtata and Harding, KZN .   The organisers are encouraged to design t-shirts for this gathering as it was done for the gathering in Harding, KZN. The current Mbotho emblem can be used to make these t-shirts

Minutes of the 2nd Annual Family Gathering Meeting Held on the 1st October 2011 at KwaMbotho in Harding, KwaZulu Natal at 10h30. 1. Opening The meeting was opened at 10h30 by the Master of Ceremonies Mr SH Xaso. 2. Opening Prayer The MC handed over to Mr Mzamo for the opening prayer. He spoke about the importance of building especially as we were embarking on a building journey as a family. He spoke about the importance of coming together as one for the success of our nation. 3. Welcome All the guests in the hall were welcomed and were told to relax and feel at home. 4. Apologies Apologies were tendered for the Chief by Tat’ uMshikilana. He stated that the chief was tied up in a Contralesa meeting called by the Government and could not get away to come to the gathering. 5.
